Maria Menounos

Maria found out she was facing medical issues of her own while she cared for her mother suffering from Stage 4 brain tumors. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. In the exclusive cover story in PEOPLE, Menounos reveals that she experienced headaches and lightheadedness during sets. "My speech was slurred. I also had trouble understanding the prompter on the teleprompter." An MRI showed Menounos to have a very large meningioma brain tumour which has grown to the size of a golfball. It was pressing on her facial nerves. Menounos made an appointment with her mother's doctor the renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Keith L. Black to schedule surgery to be performed on June 8 - her birthday. The doctor said the surgery was 98 percent safe. However, we wouldn't know that until the time they reach. Dr. Black managed to eliminate 99.9% of benign tumors with a complicated operation that took seven hours. "He advised that there's about a six to seven percent possibility that it will be back again," she says. These odds are my best chance to bet. Menounos, who was admitted to hospital for six days, is now at home and spending recovering. Maria Maria Maria
